New USCIS Issues

Since September 11, 2001, the USCIS has begun enforcing laws and rules that were already on the books, but had not been strongly monitored before. Please be advised that until you become a United States citizen, you have a legal duty to inform the Immigration and Naturalization Service of any address change within 10 days of the change. Failure to do so is a crime, punishable by fine of up to $200, 30 days' incarceration, or both. You must notify the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in writing at the following address:
    U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
    PO Box 7134
    London, KY 40742-7134

We recommend that you sent the change of address notification by certified mail, return receipt requested. Please be further advised that until you become a United States citizen, you have a legal duty carry your green card with you at all times. Failure to do so is a criminal offense punishable by 30 days imprisonment, a fine of up to $100, or both.
